Paneer Momos & Spicy Momo Chutney!
Most of the street foods is always a favorite for all of us. and one such is the MOMOS. What if I tell you that, the same street food can be made at home, with the same taste and in a bit more healthier fashion? Yes, a healthy and a yummy momos with the most amazing spicy hot Momo sauce can be made at home in 20 to 30 minutes’ tops. Don’t believe me? Ga ahead, give it a try, yourself!
Here is a quick and a foolproof recipe for soft and tasty Paneer Momos, personally my favorite!
Ingredients: Makes – 8-10 momos!
FOR THE MOMOS:
Maida – 1 cup
Salt – to taste
PANEER FILLING:
Oil – 2 tbsp
Onion – 1no
Cabbage – 1/2 cup
Paneer – 200gm
Pepper – 1 tsp
Salt – to taste
MOMO CHUTNEY:
Oil – 1 tbsp
Ginger – 1″ piece
Onion – 1 no
Garlic – 7-10no
Dried Red Chilli –
5-8no
Sugar – 1 tsp
Salt – to taste
Vinegar – 1 tsp
The Method:
The dough:
- In a bowl, take 1 cup of MAIDA flour and add SALT to taste.
- Mix well and knead to a slightly tight dough. Make sure the dough is not soft.
- Cover the dough with a wet cloth and let it rest for 15 – 30 minutes. The wet cloth will prevent the dough from going dry.
The Paneer filling:
- In a thick bottomed pan, add 2 tbsp of OIL.
- Once the oil is hot, add 1 no of Finely Chopped ONIONS. Sauté well.
- For the crunchiness of the momo filling, add ½ cup of finely chopped CABBAGE.
- Sauté well, until the cabbage is cooked.
- Crumble 200gms of PANEER and add it to the mix.
- Add 1 tsp of PEPPER and SALT to taste and mix well.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes. Set it aside.
Preparing the Momos:
- Once the dough is rested, knead for 2 minutes and divide into small lemon sized balls.
- Roll out the ball of dough into thin sheets.
- Add a spoonful of the PANEER filling.
- Brush the sides with a touch of water. And start pleating.
- Make potli like/ Onion like shapes. The shape need not perfect.
- Prepare all the MOMOS in the similar fashion.
- Steam cook the MOMOS for 5-10 minutes or until done. The dough will turn slightly translucent.
- Yummy soft steamed PANEER MOMOS is ready. Enjoy with a spicy momo chutney or red chilli sauce!

- Take a thick bottomed pan and add 1 tbsp of OIL
- Add 1″ piece of roughly chopped GINGER.
- Add 1 no of Roughly chopped ONION and sauté well.
- To that, add about 5-8 nos of DRIED RED CHILLES, depending on your level of spiciness.
- Cook well and add 7-10nos of GARLIC and sauté well.
- Add 1 tsp of SUGAR, SALT to taste and 1 tsp of VINEGAR. Mix all the ingredients together well and cover and cook for 3-5 minutes.
- After that, take it off heat. Allow it to cool completely and grind to a smooth paste (add 1 to 2 tbsp of water).
- Spicy Hot MOMO chutney is ready!
