4 Best places for a Romantic Moonlight Dinner

Okay, I want to put something straight, I am not a travel guru or a food critic. So if you are looking for such a review, You are not in the right place. This article is the personal experience of a couple from a not so hi-fi background. It is about some of the best dinner dates that I and my husband have been too.

You should know more about us. We are a married couple, who enjoy a night out once a while. I am an architect by profession. Which means, by default, I tend to value the location and setting more the food offered. And I would love to share our experiences with you. So, without further ado, here is a rating of 4 really cool rooftop dinner destinations in Chennai. This rating is based on the food they offer, the budget, and most importantly the ambiance.

4. Hola, Besant Nagar

Hola is located right on the seashore. The terrace is covered with shade sails. With the sea breeze hitting you, you cannot ask for a better setting. And since our marriage was an arranged one, I was never been proposed to. So when we celebrated our first anniversary here, my husband got down on his knees and actually proposed to me, asking me to stay married to him 😉

The food here is quite selective. North and Italian cuisine. That was the only drawback for us, as my hubby missed his favorite South Indian options. Other than, it is a must-visit for young couples!

3. Azuri Bay, Gandhi nagar

Be it for a get-together or a dinner date, Azuri bay is the place. My friends arranged for my bachelorette dinner (kindly note- it was not a party, but a dinner) here. I loved this place so much that, I made my husband celebrate my birthday here! The interiors are as classy as the rooftop setting. And the food here is amazing. perfect for a pocket-friendly experience.

2. Up North, Teynampet

Up north is a part of the Raintree Hotel, teynampet. Located in the heart of the city, this rooftop restaurant offers the view of Chennai. The view itself will make you realize that you have indeed taken a break from your busy lives. It is a perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy a lovely evening with your better half.

1. Kippling Cafe, ECR

In a faraway land! Yes, this café, located near the ECR shollinganallur junction is the place for a special evening. My husband stunned me with this selection for our 3rd wedding anniversary. Along with in-house dine-in and rooftop experience, they also have small little huts, that are even better than the rooftop setting. We went in with a rooftop reservation but ultimately opted for the hut. With the sea breeze and the greenery around you, it is the perfect setting for a dream date night. And that is why it tops my list!
